Garuda Wisnu Kencana, often abbreviated as GWK, is a monumental statue which is one of the leading icons in Bali, Indonesia. Located in Seminyak, GWK depicts Lord Vishnu, who sits on the Garuda bird with his right hand holding up the “chakra” sign and his left hand holding the “gada.” This statue reflects majesty and greatness, depicting the Hindu mythological legend about God Vishnu who freed the Garuda bird. Apart from the main statue, the GWK complex also offers recreational facilities, a dance theater, art gallery and exhibition space that allows visitors to explore Balinese art, culture and history.
